I'll see if I can come up with some new terminology for the Poser/Daz artists...

Proximity Render Cognition : The annoying fact that the further you walk away from your computer, the more likely you are to recall something you should have fixed before you hit "render".

Uncanny Canyon : The more time you spend trying to match a likeness, the further from it you get. Also see Zencognition.

Zencognition : When trying to match a likeness but you end up with something totally new and more fun than intended. Also see Wutdafugnition.

Wutdafugnition: When trying to match a likeness and you end up with something as far removed from the source as a spitwad is to a Redwood Tree. Also see Zencognition.

Wire Reality : Constant analysis of the real world into 3d models. Example: While sitting at a coffee shop you admire the espresso machine and figure out how to reconstruct it in 3d. Then you get smacked in the face for staring at the barista and noting which settings in Poser would reproduce her curves best.

Pixel Deviant : While looking over an erotic 3d image, you pay more attention to the details of the pose and try to figure out where they got that hair file.

Holy Sole : The final render is finished, and you just noticed that the third figure over from the left is floating about an inch off the ground.

The Roselli Factor : The amount of hair you've pulled out is in direct proportion to the number of background extras your writing partner stuck in that simple little bar scene.

Library Exasperation : When you click on an item in the library that has some element improperly referenced and Poser is going to spend the next several minutes looking for the missing file. So you get a cup of coffee only to return to your desk with a popup window asking you to find "black.jpg"

Hair Follicle Illumination : Finding out that the hair material setting you applied has ambiance applied and your character's hairstyle stands out in the shadows.

Vertical Lens Capping : After allowing your computer to render out the image you discover that your camera was behind a wall or object and you have a blank render.

Computer Envy Stabilization :
Upon the purchase of a new computer, the older model no longer acts and seems to run better than before.

Feel free to submit your own!

From :icontecknophyle:
Reflectance Blindness : Saving time cheating on a scene by ensuring that only the parts facing the camera are correct because parts not in view won't matter. There will be a mirrored surface in the final render that will clearly show the parts that didn't matter. See also Fourth Wall Derangement Syndrome.

Fourth Wall Derangement Syndrome : The utter fury experienced after acquiring a really nice looking new 3D set only to realize the modeller didn't bother to include a fourth wall/ceiling/anything outside the functioning door thus restricting the number of useful camera angles or use of reflective surfaces. See also Reflectance Blindness.

Refractory Time Dilator : That one insignificant prop in the background of the scene that has a refractive material which will be practically unnoticeable in the final render which extends the render time by a factor of 10.

Promaganda : Product renders that look very good in an artistic sense but never give a clear view of the product they're advertising so you're not sure if they're accurately representing what's there. See Fourth Wall Derangement Syndrome.

Pavlov's Shopping Basket : Automatically adding the newest product by a favorite and trusted seller to the basket for purchase before consciously noting what that product actually is.

From :iconcreativesam:
Poke-Thru Elimination (PTE) What happens when the conforming clothing settings actually perform their function(s) correctly.

Leave it to Post {processing}(LitP)When one is too lazy, tired, frazzled, unskilled to fix problems before final rendering of image(s).

Incomplete Render, Junk Image (IrJI)Those images that are only partially complete due to some runtime or system error occurring in the middle of a lengthy render of a complex image. Not good enough to save, too much time and effort not to save. One part or element of the D3-Zad Paradox (Daz 3d backward).

From :icontgtrinity:
Ample Time Expenditure:
The act of taking an excessive amount of time to adjust a female model’s clothing to fit just right, when dialing back the size of her generously sized breasts would fix the problem immediately.

Batch Perspective Regret: Switching to Perspective View to stage a scene, only to forget to switch back to a camera when saving the scene. This mistake will only come to light after a long night of batch renders.

From :icontelsis:

Woodfortreeitis: Staring for long periods of time at a scene, trying to work out why it looks a bit ‘off’, without being able to identify any discernible cause. If left unchecked, this condition can lead to Realityblindness or Proximity Render Cognition.

Realityblindness: A condition whereby you cannot see an otherwise obvious error in your rendered scene, even when it is clearly pointed out to you. In acute forms of this condition, multiple evidential examples may be required to wean you off your skewed reality. In its milder form, you may develop Proximity Render Cognition.

From :iconskin2279:

Flash Lighting: Lighting the scene with a single light from the camera direction, as though they were taking the picture with a camera with flash. You can see this horrible shadowing around the outlines of the figures.

I need to post these, because I keep running into the same questions.
The newest are at the bottom.

1: Can I commission you to make some pictures for me?
Sure - keep in mind that commission means you pay me to make the artwork - it's not free.

Let me please stress that again - I cannot work for free. I make my living as a freelance artist, without being paid, I can't survive.

Pictures are also not $1 each (or anywhere close to that). If you're serious about hiring me, keep in mind that most projects start at $75 per page/panel and that's for projects with at least 10 pages. The price can go much higher, depending on the complexity of the scenes/characters/renders needed. And sometimes, they do cost less than $75 per panel too.

2: Come on, don't you ever do any free commissions?
Actually, yes I do, on very rare occasions. Maybe once every other year, and usually for a person that I have known for years.

3: You want how much to illustrate my 600 image project ?

This happens more often than you'd imagine. Time is money, you're paying for my time/talent, and you're going to be charged accordingly. I do make deals on large projects, and I frequently give away bonus pages, just ask the people I've done work for.

4: I want to pay you to make a book cover at Print Resolution, what does that cost?
It's probably a lot more than you're willing to pay. High resolution images can take a very long time to render, even on my computer, be ready to pay for that time. Keep in mind the more complex the image is, the longer it will take to render and the more you're going to pay.

5: I want to commission you to illustrate my story, but I won't pay you until you're all finished with it.
Nope. That's not going to happen. I don't start on any projects until there's some agreed upon down payment for the work, and I do not deliver final images until I've been paid in full.

6: How about you do all of my illustrations for the exposure it will get you on my website, that's worth more than paying you.
Yeah, that's never going to happen either. I'm pretty sure that when I go to the grocery store and try to purchase a dozen eggs, a carton of milk, and a loaf of bread with "exposure", I'm going to be escorted out the door.

7: My story has a Male to female transformation and an age regression to a toddler, is that cool?
No. I have a few strict rules for commission work, no children, no bestiality, no gore, no violence without consequence.

8: I need images of a girl doing ____ with a moose.
Everybody has the right to like whatever they want within legal bounds, or in the dark recesses of their minds, but that doesn't mean that I just because I'm a freelance artist that I will illustrate a picture of anything for you. If a project sounds like something that I don't want to do, I'll let you know and I expect to be treated with the same respect you would for yourself.

To clarify a little further: I do create a lot of adult content, but that doesn't meant that I'll illustrate anything out there.

9: I need you to make an image using ___ character, wearing a aqua blue turtle neck sweater and black leather pants, standing like this, using this gun, pointing it this way, while in this setting, with these lights, and ____ girl gasping this way, with carrot red hair, wearing this dress, with blue eyes, holding a white swan, while a murder of ten crows spell out the word "shock" in the background, and since I already did all of this art direction work, I shouldn't have to pay you more than half your usual fee.

No thanks - go get your own 3d app and make it yourself.

10: I want you to reference these photos of my girlfriend, or this girl I know from work for the story.

Sorry, I don't use "real people" as references. I don't mind referring to a celebrity, but I don't want to make it look exactly like anybody.

11: Does anybody actually read these?

12: Where are the missing pages to your story ______?
Follow me on twitter twitter.com/sturkwurk - from there, you can track down the adult sites I post at, and my tumblr feed. I do my best to not violate the TOS of DeviantArt.

13: When is WFT2 going to come out?
WTF2?! has been abandoned by me. I did not like where the story was going and I gave up on it. I don't want to put the effort into something that I don't really have any interest in, at the moment.
You can view all of the unfinished pages at tgcomics for free.

14: What software do you use?
Poser 11 Pro and Photoshop are my main tools.
I use Victoria 4 and Michael 4 for almost everything in Poser. (www.daz3d.com)

15: Why did I give you a Llama badge?
I give out Llamas to anyone that favorites or comments on my work. It's sort of my way of flagging everyone that takes the time to check out my gallery. Llamas are free to give out.

16: What is your next Premium TG Comic, and when is it coming out?
My next Premium TG Comic is called "Metamorphosis" Issue Two METAMORPHOSIS by sturkwurk it's the second installment of the Ballad of Harper Kelly, it was released in October 2016.
Part one came out in Spring 2016. It is planned as a four issue series.

17: Can I ask you any Poser questions, or how you made a specific image?
Yes, go for it. I always try to help out if I can with any Poser or art questions.

18: Can I give you Poser files in trade for your work?
This has come up a couple times now. If you're a vendor and own the rights to the files in question, maybe we can trade. - But do not offer me pirated files.

NEW - 19: Do not send me story ideas unless we've discussed a commission idea.
If you post a story idea or send me plots and pitches, I will ignore them. If you want to discuss hiring me to illustrate a story for you then we'll also go over your script/concept at that time.

NEW - 20: Expenses
If your script/concept calls for an object, prop, clothing, figure that I do not have on hand, but it's one that we can agree upon to use purchased from a 3d Poser store such as www.renderosity.com - then at my discretion the cost of the file will be added to your quote. The file will remain in my possession, licenses are not transferable.
It's been around ten years now that Victoria 4 from Daz3d came into the world of Poser/Daz Studio.

Ten years.

wow.

Even though I was on the Daz testing team when she came out, and had access to her before then... you still won't find me using her that much at first.  The earliest picture in my gallery here at DeviantArt using V4 is from January 2007. Happiness by sturkwurk

I'm a grumpy guy that's not fond of change and at the time, V4 didn't have the resources that I had for V3.  How times have changed.  Today I still fiercely use V4 for just about every project I do. I own thousands of outfits, textures, props and such just for V4 and I have no intention of switching over to Daz Studio just to update to the "latest and greatest" version of Victoria.

You see, when they made V4 - they made her too well at the time. The Poser market pounced on her, exploding with multitudes of options for an artist to use.  Daz wouldn't release Victoria 5 until 2011, and have released two more versions since then. V4 reigned for five years, and the new versions don't even get two years.  If you're paying attention, that's because Daz knows that when they release a new version, it's a renewal of cash flow, see - that's the grumpy old man side of me again.

This is a toast - to V4, and Chris Creek's crew at the time that created her!

Share your V4 stories - when did you start to use V4?  When did you stop using V4 as your "goto" 3d female? How much money have you spent on V4's accessories? What's your most and least favorite things about V4?

Should I try the Patreon thing?
I'm really clueless about how it works and if I have any/enough followers that would even be interested.

I guess I'd create special pinups, maybe a short story, and previews of current projects long before they're released.

I dunno.

Update: I'm going to wait and see how the adult content works at Patroen for a year and revisit.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback, advice and support.

This summer marks 10 years that I've been using Daz's Victoria 4!

where did the time go?
Tom! Thank god you're ok!

Gasp, thanks, Bill... that was hectic.

Are you sure you're alright? We can go to the ER if you need to?

No, I'm fine, just let me catch my breath, thank God, Spider-Man showed up when he did!

Wow, you saw Spider-Man! That's awesome, say what you want about the guy, he's still always there when you need him.

Yeah, I didn't know he got a new costume though.

Wait, which Spider-Man saved you?

You mean there's more than one?

There's a bunch now... what did he look like?

He was black... I guess.

Black? Oh wait! you mean his costume was black! Was it that Venom guy?

Venom? Oh no, it was a skinny little guy.

But just like Venom but smaller?

No, the costume wasn't like Venom's, it had red lines on it.

Oh?  Not sure I've seen that one... I saw the pig one a while back, that had to be a joke?

Pig?

Oh yeah, a cartoon pig, it has to be some kind of robot.

Well, I'm still glad Spidey saved the day, oh and Captain America was there too?

Cap!  That's even cooler - wait, which Cap?

There's more than one Cap?

Oh yeah, there's even a wolf one running around... some old guy, some guy with a gun, and that guy that used to hang around with a bird....

I'm in the process of posting the existing 350 images on my tumblr page for free.

14: What software do you use?
Poser Pro 2014 and Photoshop are my main tools.

My latest is called "Neighbors" and it came out in December 2014. My next one will probably come out in 2016.

19: Can I ask you how you did ____ in that one picture?
Yes, I'm thrilled to answer questions like that, because I already know the answer! :)
if you've just found my work for the first time, or you've been watching me for years but never said anything - write to me!
If you liked something - cool - tell me why you liked it - if you didn't like something - cool too - tell me why.

I want to focus on growing as an artist/writer and feedback helps.

just drop me a note - we can keep it all private.

:)
I need to post these, because I keep running into the same questions.

4: My story has an Male to female transformation and an age regression to a toddler, is that cool?
No. I have a few strict rules for commission work, no children, no gore, no violence without consequence.

5: I want you to reference these photos of my girlfriend, or this girl I know from work for the story.
Sorry, I don't use "real people" as references. I don't mind referring to a celebrity, but I don't want to make it look exactly like anybody.

Neighbors Cover by sturkwurk Neighbors has been released.  Neighbors is a Premium comic, that means you have to pay to read it.
I provided the artwork and Femur co-wrote and lettered the stor.  It costs $10.95.
The story is over 400 panels/pages long and breaks down into 20 chapters.

The story is about a young man and his 28 day journey of self discovery as he transitions to a female.
There is a mild science fiction element, but it's mainly a love story.

You can find out more on my twitter feed: twitter.com/sturkwurk
Since the comic is for sale on an adult site, I cannot directly give out the link.
A new, FREE, 50 page TG comic called Internship by Eva Cassini :iconpatelee1: and myself has been released... at the usual place for that sort of thing.
Sorry - I can't give out the link because it's an adult site, but if you follow my twitter feed you'll find it.
